Sincona sale 18, lot 1425

This specimen was lot 1425 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 1,600 (about US$2,108 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Konventionstaler 1781. Schwabach. Vorzüglich. (Germany, county of Hohenlohe-Kirchberg, convention thaler of 1781, extremely fine.)"

A few thalers and half thalers represent the entire eighteenth century coinage of this tiny state, which was promoted from county to principality in 1764 and mediatized in 1806.
