This specimen was lot 904 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €320 (about US$431 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HESSEN, HESSEN-DARMSTADT, SEIT 1806 GROSSHERZOGTUM, Ludwig II. 1830-1848. Doppelgulden 1846. Vorzüglich. (grand duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt, Louis II, 1830-48, double gulden of 1846. Extremely fine.)"
This type of 1845-47 is rather scarce. Another type, Dav-705, issued by his successor Ludwig III, completes the series.
