This specimen was lot 893 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $390. The catalog description[1] noted, "HESSE-DARMSTADT: Ludwig II, 1830-1848, AR 2 gulden, 1845, once lightly cleaned, Unc, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was struck 1845-47 and can be expensive. The double gulden enjoyed a period of popularity in southwest Germany between the 1830's and unification in 1871.
