This specimen was lot 896 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$340 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Hessen-Darmstadt, Grossherzogtum Ludwig II. 1830-1840. Kronentaler 1833, Darmstadt. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (grand duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt, Louis II (1830-40), crown thaler of 1833, Darmstadt mint. Nice extremely fine.)"
This type, the only thaler issued by this ruler, is noted for 1833-37. Double thalers (Dav-702) also exist and are more available.
