Künker sale 335, lot 3945

This specimen was lot 3945 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,141 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HESSEN, HESSEN-DARMSTADT, LANDGRAFSCHAFT, SEIT 1806 GROSSHERZOGTUM. Ludewig X. (I.), 1790-1806 (-1830). 1/2 Konv.-Taler 1793, Darmstadt. Sehr selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Feine Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt, Louis X, 1790-1830, half convention thaler of 1793, Darmstadt mint. Very rare in this quality, fine patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

Two half thalers were struck in 1793, this one, with lions supporting the arms, and KM 246, with trophies supporting the reverse. Four different thalers (Dav-2336 thru -2339) also appeared in 1793.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 13.76 g.
