Steve Album sale 54, lot 2531

This specimen was lot 2531 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "HESSE-CASSEL: Friedrich Wilhelm I, 1847-1866, AE 3 heller, 1852, a superb lustrous example! PCGS graded MS65 BN." This type was struck 1848-66 and has a low catalog value. This state was annexed by Prussia in 1866, leaving the other branch, Hesse-Darmstadt, the sole representative.
