This specimen was lot 2933 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "HANAU-MÜNZENBERG: William IX, 1760-1803, AR 20 kreuzer, 1764, under the regency of Queen Mary of England, 1760-1803, AU, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." William IX was count of Hanau-Munzenberg from 1760 and landgrave of Hesse-Cassel from 1785. He was under the regency of his mother, princess Mary, daughter of George II of England, 1760-64. William is most remembered today for giving the Rothschilds their start by hiring Mayer Rothschild as his estate manager in 1769.
