This specimen was lot 4381 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011) where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Hamburg, Stadt Dukat 1865. Fast FDC. (Germany, city of Hamburg, ducat of 1865, choice uncirculated)."
By the mid nineteenth century, the gold ducat was a quaint relic of its former dominance as a world trade coin, but several localities, including Hungary, the Netherlands and the city of Hamburg still struck them. This type was issued in small numbers 1854-67. Hamburg ceased minting ducats in 1872.
