This specimen was lot 645 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $969.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hamburg. Taler, 1735-IHL. NGC MS-64. Tied with one other at NGC and one at PCGS for finest certified. Toned. Sharply struck and very attractive. From the Rockaway Collection." The city of Hamburg struck thalers only erratically in the eighteenth century; this is the first issue since 1730 and the last until 1748. It is struck in the name of emperor Charles VI.
Recorded mintage: unknown but somewhat scarce.
