from Steve Album sale 45, lot 931

This specimen was lot 931 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "GWALIOR: Madho Rao, 1886-1925, AE ¼ anna, Lashkar, VS1946, Sunface design, PCGS graded EF40." This type was struck VS1946 only with several variations in the style of the sun face. The Vikram Samvat calendar is 57 years ahead of the AD date altho it starts in April rather than January 1.
