This specimen was lot 21276 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,092.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 5 Pesos 1874P, MS63 NGC, fully lustrous and attractive, rare type in this elevated grade." This type was struck 1872-78; all the dates are scarce and some are rare. The liberty head design also appears on the rare 20 pesos of 1877.
