This specimen was lot 24453 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 4 Pesos 1862-R, AU Details (Scratches) NGC. Types as previous. One small scrape across Carrera's beard on the obverse, but Mint State in terms of wear, and thus uncommon for this type. Attractive piece overall, with much mint bloom. Ex. Louis Hudson (12/1978 for $750. From The Isaac Rudman Collection of Guatemala Coins." This type is listed for 1861-62 and is part of a gold series which included one, two, four, five, eight, ten, sixteen and twenty pesos.
