This specimen was lot 24445 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,406.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Central American Republic gold 2 Escudos 1847 NG-A, AU58 NGC. Very light actual wear but struck on a concave flan, thus with little detail on the tree leaves. Much luster, and a desirable piece. Very rare, with only a few confirmed examples (this being probably the second finest). Missing in the Norweb, Eliasberg and Haberthuer collections. Ex. Spink (Spink 9/1980, lot 570 for £600). From The Isaac Rudman Collection of Guatemala Coins." This date is recorded as a slightly better date compared to the 1827 or 1835. The type was struck in Guatemala 1825-47 and occasionally in Costa Rica 1828-50.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.75 g, 0.875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW.
