This specimen was lot 3965 in Goldberg sale 85 (Los Angeles, June 2015), where it sold for $235. The catalog description[1] noted, "Guatemala. 8 Reales, 1802-NG M. Charles IV. Toned. Surface residue. Sharpness of Extremely Fine." This type was struck 1791-1808 for Charles IV but the four reales are actually slightly more common. Assayer M is recorded for 1786-1823.
