This specimen was lot 33262 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $2,160. The catalog description[1] noted, "George I Lepton 1869-BB MS66 Brown NGC, Strasbourg mint. An unmistakable gem singularly toned to a soft lilac. Currently tied for the finest certified by NGC. From the Costas Chionis Collection." This type is listed for 1869-70 and is one of the few issues of nineteenth century Greece that is common. This product of the Strasbourg mint was accompanied by bronze two, five and ten lepta, all struck to French standards. King George ruled 1863-1913.
