This specimen was lot 22217 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $113. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREECE. Lepton, 1878-K. NGC MS-63 BN. Attractively toned with a nice blue patina." This type is listed for 1878-79 and is common in circulated condition. Despite the substantial mintage, this type is scarce in nice condition. This product of the Bordeaux mint was accompanied by bronze two, five and ten lepta, all struck to French standards. King George ruled 1863-1913.
