This specimen was lot 30635 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $616.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREECE. 2 Lepta, 1837. NGC MS-62 BN. Glossy brown surfaces with good luster around devices." This type is listed for 1832-42 and, like most of the issues of nineteenth century Greece, is scarce. Despite the substantial mintage, this type is scarce in nice condition. King Otto fell foul of the local politicians and was forced to abdicate in 1862.
Recorded mintage: 222,000 (somewhat better date).
Specification: copper.
