This specimen is lot 78 in Spink sale 9031 (London, November 2009). The catalog description[1] noted, "Greece, George II (1935-47) proof AV 25-Drachmai, 1935, bare head left, rev. laurel wreath, mark of value within, crown above, a few very light surface marks, about as struck, extremely rare." Struck about 1939 to commemorate the restoration of the monarchy, the outbreak of World War Two and the subsequent Nazi occupation of Greece prevented its circulation. Silver and gold 100 drachmai were also issued.
