This specimen was lot 77578 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Farthing (1/4 Penny), 1950. London Mint. George VI. PCGS PROOF-64 Red Brown. A delightful example of this popular issue with blazing luster and a touch of orange toning near the edges." This type was struck 1949-52. It was the second farthing for George VI and dropped "IND:IMP" from the obverse legend. It is common, including the proofs. The farthing was terminated in 1956.
Recorded mintage: 10,325,000 for circulation plus 18,000 proofs plus a few matte proofs.
