This specimen was lot 75104 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1901. London Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-64+. Attractively toned and well struck, this piece is sure to catch the attention of the British collector." This type was struck 1893-1901 and is the final type for Queen Victoria (r. 1837-1901). It is the most readily available shilling in nice condition and none of the dates are rare.
Recorded mintage: 3,426,000, a low mintage but many saved.
