This specimen was lot 71196 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 3 Pence, 1901. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-65+. Fully lustrous surfaces with beautiful toning of blues and oranges throughout. A superior Gem example that is sure to catch attention in the next collection it enters." This sixpence, roughly equal to a half dime, was struck 1893-1901 and is common in all grades. Most of the high grade survivors were taken from Maundy sets.

Recorded mintage: 6,100,000 plus 8,976 for the Maundy sets.

Specification: 1.41 g, 0.925 fine silver, 16 mm diameter.
