This specimen was lot 74822 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Maundy 2 Pence, 1867. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-66. A lustrous example with dappled gold toning on the obverse and a lovely even rose gold on the reverse." This type was struck 1838-87. Except for a few dates struck for the colonies (1838, 1843 and 1848), the halfgroat had no circulating function and appeared only in the Maundy sets.
