Steve Album sale 54, lot 2712

This specimen was lot 2712 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN: Victoria, 1837-1901, AE halfpenny, 1859, a wonderful example, PCGS graded MS64 RB." This half penny was struck 1838-60 and most dates are readily available in circulated condition. The denomination was converted to bronze in 1860 and the "bun head" bust introduced.

Recorded mintage: 1,290,300, including an 1859/8 overdate.

Specification: 9.45 g, copper, 28.4 mm diameter, plain edge.
