Great Britain 1855 sovereign
This specimen was lot 2572 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Victoria, 1837-1901. Sovereign 1855, London. Young head. WW incuse. 7.94 g. Seaby 3852 D. Fr-387 e. Vorzüglich. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (kingdom of Great Britain, Victoria, 1837-1901, sovereign of 1855, London mint, young head, incuse WW on truncation. Extremely fine, Extraordinary condition.)"
Varieties exist for this date with the engraver's initials WW incuse or raised. This bust was used on the sovereign, or one pound coin, 1838-64 with a slightly modified type (KM 736.2) extending until 1874.
