This specimen was lot 24338 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $558.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria gold Sovereign 1854, Young Head, AU55 'Douro Treasure' NGC, lots of remaining luster." This type was struck 1838-72 in large quantities with a slightly modified obverse continuing until 1874. Despite the large mintages, the type is scarce in nice condition.
