This specimen was lot 71174 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1845. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-64. Featuring Victoria's young head less than a decade after her accession to the throne, this near-Gem minor presents dazzling luster a subtle tone alluring throughout." This type was struck 1838-66 in large quantities with a slightly modified obverse continuing until 1887.

Recorded mintage: 4,083,000.

Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver, .168 troy oz ASW.
