This specimen was lot 20471 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Guinea, 1776. George III (1760-1820). NGC AU-58. Fourth head. Sharp strike, lightly toned with attractive underlying luster, a likely candidate for grade arbitrage." This bust of George III was used on half guineas 1775-86. Half guineas of George III are priced only slightly less than the guineas.
