This specimen was lot 1791 in Sincona sale 82 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 3,200 CHF (about US$4,283 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "George III. 1760-1820. Guinea 1772, London. Third laureate head. NGC MS62. Tied with one other for second finest certified by NGC." This type, one of several used during George's long reign, is noted for 1765-73.
