Sincona sale 79, lot 1214

This specimen was lot 1214 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 5,000 CHF (about US$5,993 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, Anne, 1702-1714. Guinea 1705, London. Pre-Union type. Draped bust. Very rare in this condition. NGC XF45." Guineas were struck for queen Anne 1702-14 and come in many varieties. This subtype was struck 1702 and 1705-07 and is rare. None are known with the elephant and castle symbol.
