Sincona sale 79, lot 1215

This specimen was lot 1215 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 2,800 CHF (about US$3,356 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, Anne, 1702-1714. 1/2 Guinea 1705, London. Pre-Union type. Draped bust. NGC AU Details. Reverse damaged." Half guineas were struck for queen Anne 1702-14 and come in several varieties. This subtype was struck 1702 and 1705 and is rare. None are known with the elephant and castle symbol.
