This specimen was lot 46306 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, 1688/7. London Mint. James II. PCGS AU-55. Overdate." This type was struck 1685-88 for James's brief reign. All British pennies were silver until Matthew Boulton persuaded the government to give him a contract to strike copper pennies in the 1790's.
