Sincona sale 79, lot 1102

This specimen was lot 1102 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 62,500 CHF (about US$74,906 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, James I. 1603-1625. Rose ryal n. d. (1620-1621), Tower Mint. Third coinage. Mintmark rose. Very rare. NGC MS61. Cabinet piece." This gold rose ryal had a face value of thirty shillings. With the accession of James I we drop "England" as the country name and adopt the current "Great Britain."
