This specimen was lot 40359 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Gold Crown, ND (1613-15). London Mint; mm: Cinquefoil. James I. PCGS Genuine--Repaired, EF Details. Second coinage. Obverse: Crowned and mantled bust right; Reverse: Crowned coat-of-arms. This hammered gold Crown features a well-centered strike with solid detail throughout for the issue. Light earthen deposits surround part of the reverse legends, and a small cut is observed on the rim. Otherwise, a distinctive and charming representative of the type. From the Lucius S. Ruder Collection." This gold crown of James' second issue was accompanied by a rose ryal (Fr-230), angel, unite (Fr-234), spur ryal (Fr-231), double crown (Fr-235), half angel (Fr-233) and half crown (Fr-237). With the accession of James I we drop "England" as the country name and adopt the current "Great Britain."
