This specimen was lot 2667 in Goldberg sale 109 (Los Angeles, January 2019), where it sold for $210. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States: Gorizia. 15 Soldi (8 ½ Kreuzer), 1802-A. Billon. Francesco II. Eagle. Reverse: Shield and value. NGC graded MS-62." Gorizia, or Gorz, is a town in the western part of Carinthia and was under Hapsburg rule since 1500. Coinage was struck for it 1797-1802 after Austria annexed the republic of Venice. Gorizia was ceded to Napoleon in 1809 but returned to Austria in 1815. It has been part of Italy since 1919 despite claims by Yugoslavia.
