Sincona sale 77, lot 4264

This specimen was lot 4264 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 22,000 CHF (about US$26,704 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Glarus, Schilling o. J. (1610-1618), Glarus. MON:NO:GLARONENS. Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Kreuz. Rv. SAN - FRIDOLI - N9. Hl. Fridolin mit Bibel und Wanderstab. Nachtrag in Helvet. Münzenzeitung Mai 1987, Nr. 749. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Glarus, undated schilling, circa 1610-18. Obverse: crowned double headed eagle with cross; reverse: St. Fridolin with bible and staff. Very rare in this condition, About extremely fine.)"

This type also comes dated 1617. Both are very rare, as is all the coinage of the canton prior to the Helvetic Republic.
