Sincona sale 101, lot 2564

This specimen was lot 2564 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,713 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Bundesrepublik Deutschland, 5 Deutsche Mark 1956 J, Hamburg. NGC PF67 ULTRA CAMEO."

This is a common date of a type struck 1951, 1956-74 at four mints (D, F, G, J). The early proofs are rare; they don't seem to have been available to the public until about 1968.

Recorded mintage: 1,068,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 11.20 g, 0.625 fine silver, 29 mm diameter; this specimen 11.14 g.
