Sincona sale 97, lot 1654

This specimen was lot 1654 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,306 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN Genua, Dogi Biennali, 1528-1797. Scudo stretto 1676 ILM, Genova. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung mit Prägeglanz. (Italy, republic of Genoa, biennial doges, 1528-1797, Very Fine-Extremely Fine, Extraordinary condition with mint lustre.)"

Altho this type was struck without change from 1637 to 1725, it does not turn up often. Quarter and half scudi also exist.

Specifications: 39 g, silver, 46 mm diameter, this specimen 36.21 g.
