Stack's Bowers November 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 78090

This specimen was lot 78090 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Genoa. Doppia, 1619-DN. Conrad II. PCGS AU-53. From the G. L. Hermann Collection." This type was struck intermittently 1557-1637 along with a mezza doppia (Fr-420) and a double doppia (Fr-418). The double doppia appears occasionally but the other two are very rare. The doppia was two ducats; elsewhere in Italy, the doppia was two scudi.
