This specimen was lot 31862 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy. Genoa. Galeazzo Maria Sforza gold Genovino (Ducat) ND (1466-1476) MS65 NGC. + • G : S : DUX : mЄDIOLAnI : D : IAn •, castle in tressure of arches, annulets in spandrels / + : COnRADUX : RЄX : ROMAnO : BI •, cross pattée within tressure of arches, cinquefoils at points and annulets in spandrels. A lustrous example of this issue with an appealing strike. From the Allen Moretti Swiss Collection." Five different dukes of Milan occupied Genoa long enough to issue gold coins: Filippo Maria (1421-25), Francesco (1464-66), Galeazzo Maria (1466-76, shown here), Gian Galeazzo (1489-94) and Ludovico Maria (1494-99).
