Sincona Auction 105, lot 3305

This specimen was lot 3305 in Sincona Auction 105 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,572 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 25 Centimes 1847, Genf. Probe in Silber. Stempelschneider Auguste Bovet. Selten. Fast FDC. Hübsche Patina. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, twenty-five centimes of 1847, pattern struck in silver, dies by Bovet. Rare, About Mint State, Attractively toned.)"

The billon version is fairly common and the silver version scarce but not rare. Patterns exist without the "AB" initials. Cantonal coinage ceased when the confederation was formed in 1848.
