Sincona sale 51, lot 4064

This specimen was lot 4064 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$905 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Stadt und Kanton Genf, Halbtaler 1657. Selten. Schön-sehr schön. (city and canton of Geneva, half thaler of 1657. Rare, Fine-very fine.)"

The SCWC notes this type as struck 1621-30, 1633, 1638-41, 1657, 1659, with all dates rare to unknown. It was accompanied by a thaler (KM 26), ducat (KM 42) and a double ducat (KM 46).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 14 g, silver, this specimen 13.57 g.
