Sincona sale 95, lot 4223

This specimen was lot 4223 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$485 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 3 Sols 1589, Genf. Mzz. C-G. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, three sols of 1589, Geneva mint, mintmark CG. About Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck nearly continuously 1554-94. Numista does not mention the mintmark clearly visible here. One thaler was 96 sols.

Record mintage: unknown.

Specification: 4.0 g, billon, 26 mm diameter, this specimen 3.07 g.
