This specimen was lot 3309 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,134 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"GENF Stadt. Ecu pistolet 1576. GOLD. R Fast vorzüglich. (canton of Geneva, gold pistole of 1576. Scarce, choice extremely fine.)"
Friedberg lists this obscure type for 1562-86 and notes that the last écu pistolet was struck in 1642. Earlier dates had alternating straight and wavy rays emanating from the sun; all the rays on this example are wavy.
