Gelderland 1733 ducaton Dav-1824
This specimen was lot 1501 in Jean Elsen sale 121 (Brussels, June 2014), where it sold for €240 (about US$384 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, GELDERLAND, Provincie, AR dukaton (zilveren rijder), 1733, Droit: Ridder te paard radié boven gekroond provinciewapen. Mmt. springend paard. Revers: Gekroond generaliteitswapen gehouden door twee gekroonde leeuwen. Zeer Fraai à Prachtig. (Netherlands, province of Gelderland, silver ducaton of 1733. Obverse: mounted knight rides over the crowned provincial arms; reverse: crowned arms of the Generality supported by two lions. Very fine to extremely fine.)"
The SCWC notes that this type was issued 1704-07, 1711-12, 1717, 1720-23, 1730, 1733-40, 1744, 1759-67, 1773-75, 1785, 1789-92. The dates after 1760 are more available.
