Gelderland 1730 ducaton Dav-1824
This specimen was lot 449 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS (United), Gelderland, "rider" ducatoon, 1730. Choice AU- details despite light surface corrosion, full rims, nicely contrasting toning. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from De Visch, sunk in 1740 off South Africa." The SCWC notes that this type was issued 1704-07, 1711-12, 1717, 1720-23, 1730, 1733-40, 1744, 1759-67, 1773-75, 1785, 1789-92. The dates after 1760 are more available.
