Abbey of Fulda in 1648

This specimen was lot 4376 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011) where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,395 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Fulda, Bistum Adalbert III. von Harstall, 1788-1802. Kontributionstaler 1796. Brustbild im Talar nach rechts. Rv. Gekröntes Wappen. Fast FDC. (Bishopric of Fulda, Adalbert III, 1788-1802, contribution thaler of 1796. Obverse: clerical robed bust to right; reverse: crowned arms. Nice uncirculated)."

The abbot of Fulda was promoted to bishop in 1752. This thaler is moderately expensive.
