Sincona sale 91, lot 3206

This specimen was lot 3206 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,189 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Freiburg/Fribourg, Stadt und Kanton, 5 Batzen 1829, Freiburg. FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Switzerland, canton of Fribourg, five batzen of 1829, Fribourg mint. Uncirculated, Magnificent condition.)"

This type was struck 1827-29 and is not rare, altho this example realized double the catalog value.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver or billon, this specimen 4.38 g.
