Fribourg 1744 1/2 kreuzer KM-45
This specimen was lot 4192 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$435 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Freiburg/Fribourg, Stadt und Kanton, Vierer 1744, Freiburg. Bisher nicht beschriebene Variante des Vierers 1744 mit einem schmalen Wappen der Vorderseite (entsprechend der Jahrgänge 1736-1740). Rv. Ankerkreuz mit 5-blättrigen Röschen in den Winkeln. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Stempelbrüche. Die Rückseite entspricht Stempel 1744 C und D in Toblers Arbeit zu den Vierern Freiburgs i. Üe. aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, (Schweizer Münzblätter Heft 40/Nr. 159, 1990, S. 67-84). (Switzerland, canton of Fribourg, vierer or half kreuzer of 1744, Fribourg mint, Previously undescribed variant of the 1744 vierer with a narrow coat of arms on the obverse (corresponding to the years 1736-1740). The reverse features an anchor cross with five-petaled roses in the angles. Very rare, Very Fine, Die breaks. The reverse corresponds to dies 1744 C and D in Tobler's work on the vierer of the 18th century.)"
A vierer was half a kreuzer. This type was struck 1736-44 and 1751 along with another type with a tower obverse (KM 48).
