Sincona sale 102, lot 5162

This specimen was lot 5162 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Freiburg/Fribourg, Stadt und Kanton, Vierer 1736, Freiburg. Doppeladler mit kleinem Wappen auf der Brust. Rv. Ankerkreuz mit Blümchen in den Winkeln. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion SINCONA 35, Zürich, Oktober 2016, Los 5170. (Switzerland, city and canton of Fribourg, vierer or half kreuzer of 1736, Fribourg mit. Obverse: double headed eagle with small shield on its breast; reverse: anchor cross cantonned with four lilies. Very rare, About Very Fine)"

This one year type is very scarce, verging on rare. Another Fribourg vierer of 1745 has the cantonal arms on the obverse (KM 45, struck 1736-44, 1751) and is much more available.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.45 g, billon, 15 mm diameter, this specimen 0.47 g.
