Fribourg 1658 20 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 5157 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$4,522 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Freiburg/Fribourg, Stadt und Kanton, 20 Kreuzer 1658, Freiburg. z MONETA . FRIBVRGENSIS. Burg nach rechts zwischen Wertzahl 2 0. Rv. SANCTVS . 1658 NICOLAV . Brustbild des Hl. Nikolaus mit Mitra und Nimbus von vorne. Von grosser Seltenheit. Schön-sehr schön. Leichte Prägeschwäche. Exemplar der Slg. Kunzmann, Auktion SINCONA 53, Zürich, Oktober 2018, Los 6266. Exemplar der Auktion Leu Numismatik 88, Zürich, Oktober 2003, Los 2297. (Switzerland, city and canton of Fribourg, twenty kreuzer of 1658, Fribourg mint. The canton of Fribourg issued almost no coinage in the second half of the seventeenth century. The next twenty kreuzer would not be minted until 1710.
